Whiplash - A Source of Chronic Neck and Back Pain

Whiplash is the laymen’s term for a cervical acceleration-decceleration (CAD) injury. Whiplash occurs when the neck is subject to g-forces that accelerate, then deccelerate the neck, or cervical spine, in a very short timeframe, usually within one second. One of the most well known causes of whiplash is a rear-end car collision. Whiplash injuries are thought to be a common cause of chronic neck and back pain.
